Your notes and suggestions are for you. Lucent uses Windows' built-in capture exclusion, so its windows stay on your display and out of what you share in Zoom, Meet or Teams — the way a speaker's notes stay on the lectern.

No. Lucent asks Windows to keep its own windows out of screen capture (SetWindowDisplayAffinity with WDA_EXCLUDEFROMCAPTURE, Windows 10 version 2004 and later), so your notes and suggestions stay on your display and out of what you share in Zoom, Meet, Teams and most recorders — the way a speaker's notes are for the speaker. It keeps your screen tidy; it is not a way to hide that you are using an assistant. Where outside help is not allowed — an exam, or an interview with rules against it — don't use Lucent there.
No. Lucent runs on your PC and listens to the audio your computer is already playing — no extra participant, no calendar invite. It only starts when you tell it to: when a call begins it asks first, and nothing is transcribed until you say yes. Recording rules differ from place to place, so let the people on the call know when you are transcribing it.
Yes. Lucent captures the other side's voice via the Windows audio subsystem (WASAPI loopback), which means whatever your output device plays — Bluetooth headphones, USB headsets, or studio monitors — is exactly what gets transcribed. Your own voice is captured separately from the microphone channel, so the two streams stay cleanly diarized with no echo loop between them.
Yes. On the free plan, paste an OpenAI, Anthropic or Groq key and requests go straight from your PC to that provider — your key stays on your disk and never passes through a Lucent server. Answers can also run on a local Ollama model. Transcription needs a Groq or Deepgram key. Or choose Pro and use the AI included in your plan, with no keys to manage.
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. The installer is about 110 MB and installs for your user only — no administrator rights needed. There is no Mac version today.
